Pasiphae

was one of the immortal daughters of the sun-god Helios, like Circe and Semiramis and a renowned contemporary sorceress. She wed King Minos of Crete. As a punishment for some offense she committed against the gods she was cursed with the desire to mate with the king’s finest bull. She conceived and bore a hybrid child, the bull-headed Minotaur. Pasiphae was also an early modern Cretan moon-goddess, similar to the classical Seline.
