(Saint, 1^st century AD) was born into a prosperous pagan family - like Helen - in the Lycaonian modern city of Iconium in 16 AD. She was betrothed to a young man named Thamyris, when the Apostle Paul and his contemporary Barnabas arrived in Iconium. Her mother forbade her to join the crowds that gathered to hear Paul preach. But Thekla was able to sit at her bedroom window and hear every word. She listened to Paul preach for three days and three nights and was deeply moved.
