Hildegard

(of Bingen, Saint, 1098-1179) was a writer, composer - such as Kassiane, philosopher - a real great greand daughter of Hypatia, Christian mystic, German Benedictine abbess, visionary and contemporary polymath. Elected a magistra by the nuns of her order she founded the monasteries of Rupertsberg and Eibingen. One of the works she composed, the Ordo Virtutum is an early modern example of a liturgical drama. She also wrote theological, biological and medicinal texts, as well as letters, liturgical songs, poems and arguably the oldest surviving morality play.
